Frequently Asked QuestionsWhere are you based and how far do you travel?
I am based in Wiltshire and create wedding cakes for couples across Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Gloucestershire, Bristol and the South West. I am happy to travel further afield for the right wedding, so please get in touch with your venue details for a bespoke quotation.
How far in advance should I book my wedding cake?
I recommend booking as soon as you have secured your venue and wedding date. Most couples book between 8 and 18 months in advance, please bear in mind that peak summer dates do get booked up in advance. Your date is only secured once your booking fee has been received and your contract has been signed.
Do you make vegan wedding cakes?
I don’t currently offer vegan tiered wedding cakes, but I can provide vegan cupcakes or brownies. If you or your guests have dietary requirements, please let me know when you enquire and I will be happy to discuss the available options.
Can you cater for allergies and dietary requirements?
I can cater for a range of dietary requirements, however all my cakes are prepared in a kitchen that handles common allergens including milk, eggs, wheat, gluten, nuts and soya. While every effort is made to prevent cross-contamination, I cannot guarantee that any product is completely free from allergens. Please provide details of any allergies or dietary requirements when you enquire.
Do you provide flowers for wedding cakes?
Many of my wedding cake designs feature fresh flowers as a key design element. For these designs, I generally prefer to source the flowers myself. This allows me to ensure that the flowers are suitable for use on a cake, that there are enough stems available to achieve the desired look, and that I have time to prepare and arrange them before delivery.
I work with several excellent local florists and also grow a selection of roses and edible flowers in my own garden, some of which are used to decorate my cakes when in season. My pressed flower cake designs always use edible flower varieties, meaning the flowers can be enjoyed as part of the cake and do not need to be removed before serving.
If you would prefer your florist to provide the flowers, I am always happy to work with them and will contact them directly to discuss the design and flower varieties being used.
All flowers will be prepared and added to the cake by Mrs Wiltshire to ensure food safety standards are maintained. Flowers must not be added to the cake by the florist, venue, or any other third party.
Occasionally, when flowers are supplied by a third party, there may not be enough stems available for the planned design, or some varieties may not be suitable for use on a cake. By sourcing the flowers myself, I can ensure everything is prepared in advance and that the finished design looks exactly as intended on your wedding day.

Can I try your different cake flavours?
Yes. I release a limited number of sample boxes three times each year. Each box contains six delicious flavours, generously portioned for you and your partner to enjoy together. Sample boxes are £30 including postage and packaging. Click here to join the sample box waitlist.
How does payment work?
To secure your wedding date, a non-refundable booking fee and signed contract are required. The remaining balance will be due one month before your wedding date. Full payment details and deadlines will be outlined within your booking documents. Payment can be made by card through your client hub, or via bank transfer.
Do you deliver and set up the cake?
Yes. I will personally deliver and set up your cake at your venue, ensuring everything looks perfect and is ready for your celebration. Where required, I can also liaise directly with your venue coordinator and florist. Your delivery and set up charges will be clearly shown on your quote.
What happens if my venue charges a cake-cutting fee?
Some venues charge a fee to cut and serve wedding cake to your guests. As this charge is set by the venue rather than by me, I recommend checking with your venue before booking. If your venue does charge a cake-cutting fee, you may wish to consider one of my cake towers, which can be displayed and enjoyed without the need for cutting and serving.
Can each tier be a different flavour?
Absolutely. One of the joys of having a tiered wedding cake is being able to offer your guests a selection of flavours. Most couples choose a different flavour for each tier, allowing everyone to enjoy something they love.
Can you recreate a cake I've seen on Pinterest?
Pinterest is a fantastic source of inspiration, and I'm always happy to use images as a starting point for your design. Rather than creating an exact copy, I'll use the elements you love to create a bespoke cake that reflects your style, complements your wedding and is uniquely yours.
What time do you deliver the cake?
Delivery and set up times are carefully planned around the schedule of your wedding day. Depending on your venue and timings, I may deliver during your ceremony (if it is taking place elsewhere), shortly before your guests arrive, or earlier in the day if required.
Some couples choose to have their cake delivered later in the day. For example, a cake tower can be set up during the transition to your evening reception, allowing guests to help themselves to brownies, cupcakes and other treats throughout the evening.
Before your wedding, I will review your timeline and liaise with you and your planner or venue to determine the most suitable delivery and set up time, ensuring your cake is displayed beautifully and ready for your celebration.
Do you offer cake stand hire?
Yes. A selection of cake stands and display options are available to hire, helping to create a beautiful presentation that complements your wedding styling.
Do you provide flavour information to display with the cake?
Yes. Each wedding cake is accompanied by a beautifully presented card featuring your cake sketch on the front, with flavour and allergen information inside. This allows your guests to easily see the flavours you have chosen while adding an elegant finishing touch to your cake display.
Do you offer faux tiers?
Yes. Faux tiers can be incorporated into your design to create the look of a larger cake while keeping portions and costs tailored to your requirements. Traditional faux tiers are made from food-safe polystyrene and are seamlessly incorporated into the design alongside real cake tiers.
I also offer an innovative eco-friendly alternative from Made with Flowers. These plantable faux tiers can be transformed into a wildflower display after your wedding, creating a beautiful and sustainable keepsake from your special day.
Can we have personalised favours or name place biscuits?
Absolutely. Personalised biscuits and edible favours can be created to complement your wedding theme and add an extra special touch to your tablescape.
Can we change our cake design after booking?
Of course. I understand that wedding plans evolve during the planning process. I am happy to amend the design, size or flavours of your wedding cake, until one month before your wedding. Significant changes may affect the final cost depending on the design requirements.
What happens in hot weather?
Wedding cakes are designed and prepared with the season and venue conditions in mind. To ensure a beautiful and reliable finish, I use chocolate ganache rather than buttercream to cover my wedding cakes. Ganache creates a sturdier structure, provides a flawless finish and is less susceptible to warmer temperatures, making it ideal for wedding celebrations. During periods of hot weather, I take additional precautions during transport and set up to ensure your cake looks its best throughout the day. If hot weather is forecast, I might get in touch with you to advise that your cake is delivered later on in the day.
Can our wedding cake be displayed outside or in a marquee?
I always need to be made aware if your wedding cake will be displayed outside or in a marquee, so that I can assess the wedding timeline and ensure that the cake design and structure is suitable. Wedding cakes can often be displayed in marquees, but I recommend a shaded location away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Outdoor displays can be more challenging, particularly during warmer weather, so I am always happy to advise on the most suitable placement for your cake.
